Put an end to itchy paws

Waggle Boots FAQs

Is your dog driven batty by the need to chew on his paws?

Unfortunately this condition is more common than any of us would like to believe. And sometimes it gets bad enough where a dog will keep chewing to the point of an open wound.

What can you do about it?

Paw itchiness can be a big challenge to figure out. Sometimes even when people are determined to find out why this is happening to their dog the condition can remain a mystery. Possible answers range from dietary issues to spinal misalignment to wounds that linger to contact allergens. Often there is no clarity as to the cause.

1: Treat the skin irritation

Sometimes the only sound option is to treat the symptoms and work around the issue.  I recommend treating the itchiness with DERMagic Skin Rescue Lotion or DERMagic Hot Spot Salve to reduce the irritation and stop the itching. This stuff deserves to have magic in the name. No other topical products I've carried have as much success treating canine skin issues. Plus DERMagic is made from natural ingredients.

2: Prevent the itch from coming back

In cases where the itch arises from a contact allergen such as grass or even something unknown, Ruffwear Boots keep paws contact free and prevent the irritations from returning. Then your dog can return to normal activities without suffering from crazy itchy paws again.

Ruffwear Grip Trex Boots

Grip Trex Boots are the best boots for this job

In cases where a dog has irritated paws the Grip Trex are an ideal choice. The paws are the one spot on a dog's body where perspiration occurs. When paws are healing you want to make sure they are not moist. This can lead to even more irritation and slow healing.

Grip Trex Boots are made with a sturdy mesh upper for excellent breathability. Nothing gets in except air. The air cirulates and makes for a safe healing environment. The Ruffwear Boot Liners can also help to keep the skin safe and dry.

Ruffwear Grip Trex Boots are also the sturdiest option. Dogs who suffer from ongoing skin allergies on their paws tend to depend on the boots a lot and the Grip Trex are going to give you the most endurance.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Our dog wouldn't stop licking her paws. She was wearing a plastic cone from the vet for weeks on end with no improvement. These boots got her out of the cone and broke the habit of continual licking. They are amazing. Take the time to measure your dog's paws correctly though. Great product and fantastic on tiles/wooden floors - wish I had them for my senior dogs when they were alive." - Nicole

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "These boots are great! VERY high quality & will last for years. We use them (off & on) to deter our dog form chewing his feet/nail beds etc. After trying everything else (for his allergies), a raw diet, organic everything we think itching was becoming a kind of OCD so we find hes much better while wearing the boots in conjunction with other treatsments :)" - Leah O'Meara

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "The Ruffwear Grip Tex Dog Boots are a great product as well as the socks. Over the last 12 months, my Lab (Carly) has suffered on and off from a reoccurring infection between two of her toes/claws on her left front foot. In the past, to stop her from licking the wound and further aggravating and prolonging the recovery, I've fitted an elizabethan collar. Since using the boots and socks, I believe the boot has enabled the wound to heal much quicker, as 1. The wound stays clean allowing the medication (cream) to work, and 2. The boot stops her foot from splaying when she stands and therefore separating her toes, which also opens the wound. They are well made, and most importantly, Carly has adapted very well to wearing the boot, so yes, I’m extremely happy with this product and if the infection returns, I will certainly be using the boots and socks again. The company is also great to deal with, extremely helpful." - Scott Reid

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I absolutely love these Ruffwear Grip Trex boots! I bought these for my dog that has a contact allergy and needs dog boots to walk on the grass. They are easy to put on and work well with the Ruffwear Boot Liners. They look great and my dog Baxter loves the new blue colour and being able to get outside to explore the yard and go on walks again. Highly recommend these boots." - Kylie

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Our dog is allergic to grass and we have searched for nearly a year for a set of shoes that will mean she can play in the park. we have tried several designs and models but all last only one or two outings or fall off within 10 mins of running. The Ruffwear Bark n Boots Grip Trex are working fantastically. they are easy to put on and it takes her only a few steps to be used to them being on her feet. She has been able to keep them on for a couple of hours while we are walking her or working in the garden or running in the park. They dont annoy her like other models have and she has not been able - or even tried to pull them off - or make them fall off. We are very happy to be able to play with our dog in the park now." - Gemma Fletcher
