Keep your dog safe and comfortable with Ruffwear's Summit Trex dog boots. The Ruffwear-designed outsole provides flexible traction, while the durable, weather-resistant ripstop upper blocks moisture and debris. A hook-and-loop closure system creates a secure and comfortable fit.

These dog boots will provide everyday traction and paw protection from a wide range of temperatures, abrasive surfaces and unseen hazards, while also improving mobility in older dogs. To help slide the boots on easier, use the Ruffwear Boot Liners.

The Summit Trex boots are great for dogs who engage in moderate activities and don't require a super grip sole. All Ruffwear boots are extremely functional and well made. Please be careful when sizing your dog as the Ruffwear dog boots do tend to run large so be sure to do a proper measurement. We care about your dog and are more than happy to do exchanges provided the boots haven't been worn outside. but it's definitely more convenient for you to get the right size the first time.

Getting the right fit is really important

To ensure a proper fit (and to ensure the boots stay on) it is important to measure both your dog's front paws and back paws. Frequently back paws are smaller than front paws. We sell the boots in pairs of 2 to draw attention to this paw size difference. Not all dogs have front paws which are larger but it's really important to check this before ordering 4 boots of the same size. Never assume paw size is based on your dog's overall size...make sure to measure using our easy directions below.

Measuring Paw Width

  1. Have your dog stand on a firm surface (wood, linoleum, or concrete).
  2. Place a piece of blank paper under a front paw.
  3. Mark the paper at the paw's widest point on the left and right edges of the paw (see graphic on size chart).
  4. Be sure to measure a front paw and a back paw as they may be different sizes.
  5. Use a ruler to measure the distance from the left mark to the right mark on the paper.
  6. Use the Size Chart to determine the proper sizing for both the front & back paws

Trying Out Your New Boots

When you receive your new boots please be sure to give them a good solid go on your dog INSIDE before going outside. We want your dog to be comfy! We are more than happy to refund or exchange items as long as they have not been worn outside and are still in NEW condition. No questions asked!

For best results when trying out new boots pop the boots onto your dog and launch right into an activity your dog loves. Generally this includes toys or treats. Reward your dog for good work done and do not be surprised to see your dog walking as if he or she is on the moon. Most dogs adjust to boots in no time. You might want to have your video camera out for the initial trials as it can be quite entertaining to watch.

Will the boots stay on?

Be accurate in your measurements and the boots should stay well. The most likely time for a boot to fall off is The when your dog is first trying them on as dogs tend to walk a bit oddly at first. Thats's another good reason to give them a solid go inside the house first. Whe you take them outside the first few times you might want to keep an eye on your canine adventurer. Once your dog adjusts to the boots they are much less likely to pop off.

Are the Boot Liners Necessary?

The Ruffwear Boot Liners add a great deal of value at little expense. It's easy to get the liners on your dog's paws. Once you've got the liners you'll find putting the paws into the boots much easier. With the digits of the paw confined nicely it's smooth sailing. They also wick away moisture from the paw as your dog does sweat from the paw...one of the only places a dog perspires. The liners will reduce friction on the paws too. You know the feeling when your sockless foot rubs on the inside of a shoe. Both the liners & boots can be thrown into the washing machine and will dry pretty quickly so you should be fine with one set of each.

Our female Labradoodle just turned 17. Her back legs and hips have been going for a year or so but she still gets along although she drags her back legs when tired. The result was she was getting sores and bleeding on the top of her paws as she dragged them. Also her back legs would give way on tile and timber floors. The Summt Trex have been a godsend - no more sores or bleeding and she now has traction on slippery surfaces. William Jenner, Cremorne Point NSW

Our 13 year old golden retriever has arthritis and also nerve damage in one of his back legs so it was getting harder and harder for him to be mobile because of a loss of traction and his feet would sometimes drag on the ground, giving him sores. After doing a bit of research we decided to try the Ruffwear Trex and after a week or so of getting used to them he's doing really well. Yesterday when it was time for a walk he was just about running, and it's been quite a while since he was able to do that. At first we were concerned he would try and pull them off but with a few treats he was fine and now he associates them with going for a walk it's no trouble at all. I'd recommend getting the Bark n Boot liners and make sure you measure your dog's paws properly as the boots need to be pretty snug to stay on. Tina , Seacliff SA

the problem of wearing down his nails. raymond rowley, Traralgon VIC

Excellent boots for our two greyhounds who have very long narrow paws, which can sometimes be a struggle to keep the boots on but the Summit Trex stay on very well. Have been using them for 3-4 years and just love them. Have also used them on our roddy X who had a corn. Sam Harvey, Meadows SA

Boots are light weight and easy to fit. They have helped an old labrador regain some confidence and so helped her enjoy her walks. the bright green colour suits her!

Awesome, thanks so much Zoe.

I must say these boots have been wonderful for saving our new wood floors. They are great because our pooch can go outside with them on and I don't have to put them on and off like the socks.

SolitaireThese shoes were amazing for my 12 year old Labrador. He has arthritis and has slowed down considerably on his walks which he loves. With the shoes he is back to he is much more confident and faster. He isn’t limping and is back to his happy self.

Perfect fit and easy to put on and take off. Will be perfect for summer visits to the beach (hot sand) and for summer walks on the road (hot bitumen)

These boots are so easy to put on and our dog is now more comfortable when walking around the house as she does not slip on the tiles any more.
