Everyday Paw Protection. Pair of 2 Boots.
Keep your dog safe and comfortable with Ruffwear's Summit Trex dog boots. The Ruffwear-designed outsole provides flexible traction, while the durable, weather-resistant ripstop upper blocks moisture and debris. A hook-and-loop closure system creates a secure and comfortable fit.
These dog boots will provide everyday traction and paw protection from a wide range of temperatures, abrasive surfaces and unseen hazards, while also improving mobility in older dogs. To help slide the boots on easier, use the Ruffwear Boot Liners.
Boots generally come in a set of four, but if you find that the front and back paws are different sizes, you can purchase them in a set of two to get the right sizes for front and back paws.
The Summit Trex boots are great for dogs who engage in moderate activities and don't require a super grip sole. All Ruffwear boots are extremely functional and well made. Please be careful when sizing your dog as the Ruffwear dog boots do tend to run large so be sure to do a proper measurement. We care about your dog and are more than happy to do exchanges provided the boots haven't been worn outside. but it's definitely more convenient for you to get the right size the first time.
- Moisture and debris stay out via weather-resistant ripstop upper
- Ruffwear-designed, non-marking outsole offers flexible traction and is built for high-mileage
- Protects dogs’ paws from exposure to new environments: extreme temperatures and abrasive surfaces
- Reliable, intuitive hook and loop cinch strap
- Low-light visibility with reflective trim.
- Walking or running on paved streets where hot pavement, street chemicals, or other hazards exist
- Wet, rainy, or light snow conditions
- To improve traction and mobility in older dogs
Getting the right fit is really important
To ensure a proper fit (and to ensure the boots stay on) it is important to measure both your dog's front paws and back paws. Frequently back paws are smaller than front paws. We sell the boots in pairs of 2 to draw attention to this paw size difference. Not all dogs have front paws which are larger but it's really important to check this before ordering 4 boots of the same size. Never assume paw size is based on your dog's overall size...make sure to measure using our easy directions below.
Measuring Paw Width
- Have your dog stand on a firm surface (wood, linoleum, or concrete).
- Place a piece of blank paper under a front paw.
- Mark the paper at the paw's widest point on the left and right edges of the paw (see graphic on size chart).
- Be sure to measure a front paw and a back paw as they may be different sizes.
- Use a ruler to measure the distance from the left mark to the right mark on the paper.
- Use the Size Chart to determine the proper sizing for both the front & back paws
Trying Out Your New Boots
When you receive your new boots please be sure to give them a good solid go on your dog INSIDE before going outside. We want your dog to be comfy! We are more than happy to refund or exchange items as long as they have not been worn outside and are still in NEW condition. No questions asked!
For best results when trying out new boots pop the boots onto your dog and launch right into an activity your dog loves. Generally this includes toys or treats. Reward your dog for good work done and do not be surprised to see your dog walking as if he or she is on the moon. Most dogs adjust to boots in no time. You might want to have your video camera out for the initial trials as it can be quite entertaining to watch.
Will the boots stay on?
Be accurate in your measurements and the boots should stay well. The most likely time for a boot to fall off is The when your dog is first trying them on as dogs tend to walk a bit oddly at first. Thats's another good reason to give them a solid go inside the house first. Whe you take them outside the first few times you might want to keep an eye on your canine adventurer. Once your dog adjusts to the boots they are much less likely to pop off.
Are the Boot Liners Necessary?
The Ruffwear Boot Liners add a great deal of value at little expense. It's easy to get the liners on your dog's paws. Once you've got the liners you'll find putting the paws into the boots much easier. With the digits of the paw confined nicely it's smooth sailing. They also wick away moisture from the paw as your dog does sweat from the paw...one of the only places a dog perspires. The liners will reduce friction on the paws too. You know the feeling when your sockless foot rubs on the inside of a shoe. Both the liners & boots can be thrown into the washing machine and will dry pretty quickly so you should be fine with one set of each.
I've only had my boots for a few weeks, and my poor old kelpie is still getting used to his new shoes, but I can already see massive improvements in his walking and comfort levels when he's out and about on our farm. We've been having trouble with his paws & walking comfort as a result of arthritis and our dog boots have been a great investment to help keep him out and about. Kel, GOULBURN NSW
I am very happy with the dog shoes. My dog is walking on the slate and wooden floor with more confidence. The only problem that I have with the shoes is that my dog has dew claws and the shoes could be a bit longer in the part that Velcro's up. Christine Thompson, BOYA WA
We absolutely love the Ruffwear Summit Trex Dog Boots! Although we returned them for a larger size. They are great quality and fit the dogs paws very well. The velcro band at the top is able to be adapted to your dogs legs size so it is ready for a comfortable fit. Meg, Kinross WA
Bought these for my 16 year old large mixed breed to assist with traction on smooth floors. Also bought socks. They are easy to put on and they stay on. Mr Boo has not tried to remove them so I'm guessing they are comfortable. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because they are not waterproof. After he went out to the lawn for his morning ablutions he came back in with soaking wet feet so I had to remove them to dry them out. Luckily I have some waterproofing that I can apply but in all honesty they should be waterproof from the get go. Jan Markby, NANNUP WA
Excellent idea - my dog has arthritis and these really help her be able to walk on her back legs more easily Anita Mead, Richmond VIC

Our puppy is a Staffy.our Staffy goes for a run every morning chasing a ball.we purchased size 2 and the came off within about 10 yards on the first wear.we then purchased size 1.75 but they are too short in the sole.we would have like the ones with the sox at the top but they were not available.the quality seemed really good but it is they style not long enough going up the leg to hold them on.

Hi - I bought a set of Summit Trex boots for my greyhound. She suffers with corns on front feet& these were recommended. I also got a set of socks too. I highly recommend these - so well made and the design suits her foot - I can see they are going to be excellent when she has “run” them in. I can’t say that she is as keen as I am on them - but we are getting there. Excellent product - I highly recommend (but you do need patience). Thanks for your help and assistance as I did ask a few questions before ordering. Regards, Gail & Poppy

I use this on my dog when we go hunting. It keeps my dogs paws safe from all the prickles and burrs in the paddocks.

I have a Greyhound called Angelia. She had 2 operations on both her back paws due to glass and other foreign items that have entered her paws.
Greyhounds do have softer paw pads and are prone to have paw injuries. I was advice by my Vet to look for socks with re-enforcement or booties. We tried the booties and she is walking well with them which gives me so much relieve not to have to worry all the time what she could step on to next...
Great advice as well for sizing and overall care!

Excellent quality - fitted really well and very durable. Our dog had to wear a boot for two weeks due to a paw injury. It made our life so much easier whenever we went for a walk - easy to dress and remove. He didn't even seem to mind wearing it!
