The Ruffwear Load Up Harness is a fully featured dog car harness that provides outstanding protection for your dog with the comfortable fit of a quality Ruffwear harness. Pop it on your dog, thread the seat belt through the loop on your dog's back and you're ready to go!
Built with strength-rated hardware and components, the Ruffwear Load Up Harness has been successfully tested to withstand the rigours of a vehicle crash test.
In observing sled crash test videos of other restraint harnesses where the seatbelt attachment points are high on the dog’s back, dogs tend to flip off the seat with their back legs swinging forward. Ruffwear have taken a different approach with the attachment point low on the base to prevent this flipping.
Forged Anodized Aluminum 6061 slide buckles were added for strength-rated reliability and easy on/off. The shell material also got an upgrade, both from a durability standpoint and to fall in line visually with the rest of Ruffwear's gear designed for life on the go in the Journey Collection.
The canine restraint was dynamically tested under the conditions outlined in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213 Child Restraint Systems (FMVSS 213). The canine restraint was installed on the canine crash test mannequin per the manufacturer’s (Ruffwear) instructions and then secured to the test bench restraint system. FMVSS 213 employs a standard bench seat that represents the rear seating environment of an automobile. The seat bench and add on restraint was then subjected to the 30 mph generic frontal crash pulse detailed in FMVSS 213.
MGA Research performed three separate dynamic tests of the Load Up™ Harness with 25-pound, 45-pound, and 75-pound dog-mannequins.
In all three of Ruffwear’s dynamic sled (crash) tests of the Load Up™ Harness, the dog mannequin remained in an upright position and on the seat.

These harnesses r brilliant...possible the best I've seen. We have them for all our dogs and bought one for a friend we are so impressed. They are easy to get on and off the dog, the dogs are happy to play, sleep, eat and all the things they love to do, so the harness doesn't impede the dog's ability to enjoy life. All it does is make our dogs as safe as they can be in a car...just in case something terrible happens.

Took me a little while to learn how to drive it, but once I sorted it out it's great. Ours is a little too big, because my growing puppy was between sizes and we opted for the larger one. It works well in the car and seems far more comfortable for her than others we have tried
The Small size fits our 1yr old Border Collie very well. Still working on adjusting a few straps to get that perfect fit, but we're close. She wears it comfortably and we've had many people ask about it. The buckles are all metal, and with a few tugs on the 'attach' loop from different directions, it looks like the weight is distributed over the dog very well in a crash.
I'm very pleased, and the price is minimal to pay for the safety of our pup. Would recommend to anyone.
