A dog park friend said that she "looks like a lady whose husband died in ... ahem, suspicious circumstances and is now living her best life swanning around town in a mink coat." I think she's more like a lady whose husband died in mysterious circumstances and is now living her best life hiking around the country in custom boots -- she's ladylike but loves to play rough, get muddy, and attack all running water. Her ideal day includes a morning hike, a wrestling date with her much larger bestie, and then a couple hours at the park in the afternoon.
  • worst habits: Monitors the sunrise. Every morning. We have recently negotiated that I only need to be involved to open the door for her at 4.30 and can then go back to sleep for an hour.
  • future plans: Are there national bitey-face championships? Because she's a contender.

Charlie models a Ruffwear Front Range Harness

Bought this harness when we were told to get a front-clip harness for "polite walking class" -- I never wound up using that feature, but it's been ideal for our hikes ... super comfy, easy to put on, and looks great in purple. Sizing was a little tricky to figure out -- at 8kg, I was surprised Charlie is in a 2XS, but we tried on our friends' XSes and they were definitely too big.

These seem really great -- well-made, carefully designed, and effective. Not long after we bought them, it turned out Charlie did not have chronic dry eye (just allergies!) so we stopped training her to wear them. Sizing was a bit tricky -- pupperoni did not want to have the distance between her eyes measured, and they were a little big. Probably fit now.
